Where Culture Meets Commerce

Here, you'll find sharp analysis of the brands shaping how we live and work — beauty, wellness, food and beverage, apparel, tech, the creator economy and more — alongside the unwritten parts of corporate life nobody else seems willing to put on the page. The politics of being the one who dresses outside the dress code. What it actually takes to land your scrappy coffee company on a Whole Foods shelf. How introverts survive (and quietly run) extroverted rooms. Everything that didn't make it into the company handbook despite the fact that it’s discussed in hushed tones.

What kind of content can you expect?

We're not boxing ourselves into a single industry — because culture doesn't, and neither does business. What ties every piece together is the same lens: where culture meets commerce, and what that intersection means for the way we live, work, and spend.

👩‍💻Free readers:

  • Op-eds on the cultural moments shaping how we live, work, and consume

  • Critical analysis of the brands and industries reshaping the consumer landscape — beauty, wellness, lifestyle, food and beverage, apparel, tech and more

👩‍💻💰Paid readers get all of the above, plus:

  • Trend analysis and forecasting with a track record — we called the "fall" of luxury here before it became the headline

  • Personal essays on the parts of corporate life nobody puts in the company handbook — navigating introversion in extroverted spaces, dressing out of the box without dressing out of the room, the quiet politics of being “different” at work and more

  • Curated finds from a former buyer’s eye — the pieces actually worth your money

  • Deeper industry analysis across CPG and the brands shaping how we consume

  • And the kind of musings that don’t fit anywhere else, but feel worth saying

Who is behind Thoughtful Threads?

I’m Jenn.

I write for current and aspiring white collar professionals and entrepreneurs — the people building careers, building brands, and looking for a sharper conversation about the industries shaping their work and the culture their work shapes back. Thoughtful Threads is where the two meet.

I came to this honestly. I spent most of my career in buying and merchandising for widely recognized retailers — the kind of roles people describe as a dream and write LinkedIn posts about chasing. I climbed the whole mountain. Then I walked away, because the view from the top didn’t match the brochure, and because the conversation I most wanted to read about business and culture wasn’t being had anywhere I could find it.

So I’m building it. I'm glad you're here.
